KEMAL ÖNSOY

Kemal Önsoy will completely cover a sculpture designed by Ayşe Erkmen for the Tünel Square in 1993 which has lost its original function and visibility due to the posters and other announcements posted on it by building styrofoam walls around it. Pointing up to presence through absence, this work aims to raise questions in the minds of the passerby regarding what lies hidden behind these walls in the Tünel Square while reminding the difference that the sculpture brings to the Square.

Kemal Önsoy, Ayşe Erkmen'in 1993'te Tünel Meydanı için tasarlamış olduğu, bugün ise üzerine asılan afiş ve diğer duyurular nedeniyle orijinal işlevini ve görünürlüğünü yitiren heykelini, etrafına strafor duvarlar örerek tamamen gözden kaybediyor. Varlığa yoklukla işaret eden bu çalışma, Tünel Meydanı'ndan geçenlere duvarların arkasında neyin gizlendiğini sordururken, sergi sona erdikten sonra yeniden ortaya çıkacak olan heykelin Meydan'a getirdiği farklılığı hatırlatmayı hedefliyor.
